Ecoelastika was founded in November of 2002 by the 5 largest tire importing companies in Greece, aiming at the creation of a Collective Alternative Management System for End of Life Tires.

In February of 2003 it submitted a complete proposal for approval by the Monitoring Committee for Alternative Management (MCAM) of the Ministry of the Environment, Physical Planning & Public Works.

The first approval of the Collective System has been in effect since July 2004 following the issue of MD106157/04 and its regular operation began in November 2004.

Ecoelastika members are all companies that import tires & vehicles which are active in Greek territory and are considered “obliged” by law.

In November of 2011, Ecoelastika received a new collective system approval from the competent Hellenic Recycling Organization, in accordance with the decision dated 23/11/2011.

ECOELASTIKA S.A. is the only approved Collective System for Alternative Management (CSAM) of used tires by virtue of law 2939/2001 and PD 109/2004.
